City of York Council is looking for a highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic individual to join our Adaptations and Healthy Homes Service. The role is within the Housing Standards and Adaptations Team and involves supporting council tenants to live safely and independently in suitable council housing through major adaptations delivered via the HRA adaptations programme.

Responsibilities

  • You will work alongside colleagues in Housing Services, including Specialist Housing Advisors, the Housing Registrations team and officers working on the new House Building Programme, to provision adaptations or relocate tenants when appropriate.
  • You will visit residents to assess their individual needs and deliver interventions to prevent falls, support the Disabled Facilities Grant programme and contribute to strategic planning for the Council’s future resident support.

Qualifications

  • BSc (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • At least two years post‑graduate experience
  • Knowledge of interventions and services by Social Services and partner agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • Competence in IT for data collection, case management, communication and research

The successful candidate must demonstrate, at interview, competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public in spoken English to CEFR level C2.
