Do you enjoy improving the way services work and supporting colleagues to deliver excellent outcomes for customers? If you thrive on solving problems, thinking creatively and finding innovative solutions to challenges, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We are looking for someone who is keen to contribute to meaningful and lasting change across Housing and Building Services at City of York Council. As part of the Housing Business Change and Support Team, you will play a central role in ensuring colleagues can make the best and most effective use of our key systems, helping us deliver high‑quality, customer‑centred services. This is not a technical IT role. It is an exciting, people‑focused position where your understanding of systems, processes and service delivery will help shape and enhance the customer journey. If you can see how systems fit together, spot opportunities for improvement, and enjoy helping others use systems confidently and effectively, this role is for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will help colleagues resolve challenges, streamline processes and make better use of our Housing Management System (Open Housing), Optimise scheduling tool and Total Mobile platform. Your work will have a direct impact on how efficiently services operate and how effectively customers are supported. This role offers the opportunity to be both proactive and reactive — responding to needs as they arise while also identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. No two days will be the same, giving you variety, valuable experience and the chance to contribute to real service enhancements.
What You’ll Bring
- Understanding of Housing or Building Services processes (desirable, not essential)
- A passion for improving systems and ways of working
- Strong communication skills with colleagues at all levels
- The ability to balance competing demands and remain focused
- Good IT skills and curiosity about how systems support service delivery
- Willingness to ask questions, challenge assumptions and explore new ideas
- Motivation to develop yourself and make a positive impact on colleagues and customers
