The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of additional needs within the Cherry Blossom SEND provision, ensuring they thrive academically and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals and small groups under the direction of teaching staff.
- Monitor, assess and record pupils’ progress and feed back to teachers and leaders.
- Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
- Lead targeted intervention programmes, including phonics, handwriting and social/emotional support.
- Provide specialist support for pupils with additional needs such as autism, speech and language needs and SEMH.
- Model and support positive behaviour management strategies.
- Contribute to planning meetings, share assessment information and help shape next steps for pupils.
- Support and guide other teaching assistants or volunteers where appropriate.
- Contribute to wider school life, including enrichment opportunities and school initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND.
- Calm, nurturing, and able to build strong relationships with children and families.
- High expectations for all pupils and commitment to inclusive practice.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also showing initiative and independence.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Reflective, adaptable and keen to continue developing professionally.
Working Hours & Benefits
- Hours: 8:00 am–12:30 pm each day, 4–5 mornings per week (18–22.5 hours per week, respectively).
- Temporary position from 1 Sept 2026 to 31 Aug 2027, with potential for continuity and progress to TA5 apprenticeship and further professional development.
Required Checks and Declaration
- Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
- Completion of a Disqualification Declaration (Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009).
