City of York Council is offering an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses and Midwives to join our transforming 0-19 Healthy Child Service. We are looking for high quality, innovative and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people to join our School Aged Health Team (5-19).

Our Healthy Child Nurses work in the 0-11 Health Visiting teams or in the School Aged Health Team. The role is varied, interesting and fulfilling and provides opportunities to make a real difference to children, young people and their families. You will contribute to the development and delivery of public health initiatives to promote the health and well-being of children and young people, enabling them to reach their full potential.

You will deliver programmes of support in various community settings, early years settings, school settings and in the homes of families as delegated by Health Visitors and School Nurses. You will be working alongside a range of partners including early help providers, children’s services, education, housing, adult services, the voluntary and community sector, primary and secondary health services and of course children, families and communities.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
