WorkwithSchools is recruiting a General Teaching Assistant (GTA) with Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) hours and some Midday Supervisory Assistant cover. The role starts ASAP and becomes permanent September 2026.
Hours and Schedule
31.25 hours per week: 8:45–15:30 as a GTA (optional HLTA hours) and 12:00–13:00 as a Midday Supervisory Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Act as a General Teaching Assistant, supporting teaching and learning with teachers and staff, delivering pre‑planned learning and SEMH activities.
- Support as an HLTA by covering teacher PPA time or short term absence, communicate pupil work, manage pupil behaviour, plan, prepare, and deliver lessons, assess and report on pupil achievement.
- Supervise playground, playing fields, cloakrooms, and classrooms during lunch to ensure safety.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Level 2 numeracy & literacy qualification or equivalent.
- HLTA status or QTS; must meet HLTA standards or have QTS to deliver teaching to a whole class.
- Significant experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Good understanding of child/young people’s development and learning processes.
- Understanding of individual children’s and young people’s needs and inclusive practice.
