We are looking for a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our Housing team, carrying out electrical testing, inspection, and certification across our council housing portfolio.

About The Role

As an Electrician (Testing & Inspection), you will be responsible for undertaking Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), identifying defects, producing accurate certification, and carrying out remedial works where required.

Working within occupied and void properties, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with current electrical regulations and maintaining the safety of our tenants.

  • Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) in council-owned domestic properties.
  • Diagnose faults and identify non-compliances in electrical installations.
  • Undertake remedial works arising from inspection and testing activities.
  • Complete electrical certificates and associated documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure all work complies with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Provide excellent customer service while working in tenants' homes.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota where required.
  • Support wider electrical maintenance activities as needed.

Working hours

08:00 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday

08:00 - 15:30 on Friday.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds 2391, 2394/2395, or equivalent Inspection and Testing qualification.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Experience carrying out EICRs in domestic properties.
  • Ability to diagnose and rectify electrical faults.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
