About the role
York Learning is the City of York Council’s adult education arm and we are looking to employ a Digital Marketing Officer.
We are looking for an individual who is driven, curious about our offer, can adapt messaging to differing demographics/needs and who can think big and can create fast, whilst considering all of the communication ramifications relating to a council.
We’re an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider who is very agile and our offer changes regularly throughout the year/month and is right across the City of York and surrounding areas.
We are looking for someone with experience of digital marketing to both the general public, partners, stakeholders and specific business‑to‑business focussed marketing. You should have a qualification in marketing and have experience of creating both digital and hard copy in the current market.
You’re able to prioritise deadlines and able to work across multiple projects simultaneously and are confident in leading on the marketing strategy for the service. You should have previous experience of leading marketing campaigns on a local/regional level as a minimum and can demonstrate knowledge of current and potential future marketing routes/tools that would make our offer stand out against our competitors and encourage people to sign up to learn and engage.
You have experience of budget management and able to write tenders/bids to create relevant campaigns, approach prospective bidders and align this with our marketing and service priorities. A good understanding of the various strands within the adult education landscape would be an advantage as York Learning has multiple delivery points which all require tailored focused marketing. We can offer you the chance to continue your professional development journey in a role that is constantly evolving as we change our provision to reflect the local and national skills picture and the opportunity to develop with the wider communications team.
The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition, we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
This role is suitable as a job sharing opportunity.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
