Sitting within the Speak Up Service, the Corporate Parenting and Co-Production Advisor's main role is to work with the Speak Up and Virtual School team to support and enhance participation opportunities and to encourage children and young people to share their views and experiences to improve services. Workers will play a crucial role in supporting children and young people to engage in system change across Children’s Services and the Education sector.
The ideal candidate will represent the views of children and young people and act as a link for York’s Children in Care Council and Care Leavers Forum through their work with the Corporate Parenting Board, Virtual School Governance Panel and other relevant forums. As a Local Authority, interviews for care experienced young people are guaranteed. For this post, experience and/or knowledge of living in care is particularly important to the role.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
