Overview: City Centre Operative role at City of York Council based in York for an initial 3 months, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent. This is a full-time role with two shift patterns. Rate of pay is £13.86 per hour. Working outdoors in all weathers; PPE clothing will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out street cleansing within the city centre
- Drive mechanical sweepers/washers
- Work with a range of pedestrian controlled mechanical equipment
- Lifting/moving heavy items
- De-litter allocated areas (pavements, roadways and street furniture) using mechanical and manual methods
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Current full UK driving licence
- Physically fit and willing to work outdoors
- Comfortable dealing with members of the public
- Happy to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
Employment details:
- Location: York City Centre, York, England
- Contract: initial 3 months, with potential to go permanent
- Hours: Week 1 – Mon, Tue, Sat, Sun, 8:00–19:30; Week 2 – Wed, Thu, Fri, 9:00–19:30. Shift patterns may include unsociable hours and weekend enhancements
- Salary: £13.86 per hour
