Adult Education Tutor – Italian

City of York Council – part‑time, temporary role (2 hours per week, Monday evenings) at a local York school. Assignment from October to the end of June / beginning of July.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver a scheme of work for adult (19+) learners, including a range of additional needs, covering Entry 1 up to Level 2/GCSE.
• Teach an accredited Italian course; the tutor must have experience delivering Functional Skills and other accredited Italian qualifications, and understand quality processes.
• Work as part of a small creative team – attend regular team meetings and share resources.
• Use online delivery tools (Google Classroom, Zoom, BKSB resources); excellent IT skills required.

Qualifications and skills required:

• Suitable teaching qualification and recent experience of teaching Italian.
• Minimum grade C/4 in Maths and English.
• Higher level qualification than the level taught – e.g., A level in Italian for Level 2 instruction.
• Awareness of the rewards and challenges of adult learning and understanding of support for additional needs.
