Work with York Limited are working with a local authority client to recruit an Adult Education Tutor covering Family Learning.
This is a temporary, part time role, 6 hours per week, including one evening, term time only to deliver two separate Family Learning courses. The assignment is to start at the beginning of September 2025 to the end of June/beginning of July 2026. The location could be online or in one of the York community venues or local schools.
On offer is a competitive hourly rate of pay.
The Main Aspects Of The Role Are As Follows

  • Delivering a range of short courses from the Family Learning suite. Most courses are already planned, but are continually being developed and new courses introduced which may need to be planned.
  • Many of the courses are aimed at Early Years and the first years of Primary School. The tutor’s aim is to develop parents and carers’ confidence and skills in supporting children’s early speech and language development, using a wide variety of activities and strategies, used both in and out of the home.
  • Being linked to at least one local school and expected to build relationships with school staff and parents. Flexible availability to include some start and end of school day activities is required.
  • Working as part of a small creative team and be expected to take part in regular team meetings and share resources.
  • Excellent IT skills are required, as all courses contain a large element of IT such as Google Suite for Education, Padlet and Zoom teaching for online classes.
Qualification And Skills Required For The Post
  • A suitable teaching qualification and preferably recent experience of teaching in an Early Years or Primary Setting.
  • Minimum of a grade C/4 in Maths and English.
  • Demonstrate awareness of both the rewards and the specific challenges of working with adult learners and an appreciation of support for additional needs.
