The Role:
As a Safe City Environmental Health Officer, you will carry out routine or unplanned inspections throughout the City, working to make Westminster a healthier and safer place to live, work and visit. You will educate individuals and businesses on the impact of their actions, providing expert advice, ensuring compliance, and helping them to meet regulatory requirements. You will take enforcement action where necessary, initiating legal proceedings, and preparing and giving evidence in court.
About You:
An established professional with experience in a relevant environmental health discipline, you will have responded to complaints from the public, stakeholders or public elected members in a previous role. You will be a natural communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to build trusted relationships quickly, deescalate conflict and explain consequences of non-compliance. An understanding of rules of evidence and court proceedings is desirable, as is experience of case management.
On a personal level, you will be organised, self-motivated and an excellent listener. Most importantly, you will be passionate about improving health and safety outcomes for businesses, residents and visitors across Westminster.
