About The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Sport department based at our Sixth Form Campus.
With support from the college, you shall work towards being able to deliver one-to-one or small group programmes outside the classroom. On occasions as your experience develops you may at times be given the opportunity to cover part of a lesson or to set work for classes. You will also be required to take on a range of admin tasks for the learning area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and help named students and groups of students in working towards their learning and/or behaviour targets in the classroom, as directed by the Curriculum Manager in conjunction with teaching staff.
- Deliver one to one and small group programmes to students who are in need of extra support or stretch and challenge, outside the classroom, as directed by the Curriculum Manager in conjunction with teaching staff.
- To communicate concerns and news of progress to teachers and Curriculum Manager, on a regular basis, including at team meetings.
- Supporting students with a range of barriers to learning to access the curriculum whilst encouraging the development of independent learning skills. At the direction of the teacher, work may include a range of tasks, relevant to the course and development of the student.
- Assist in the preparation/adaptation of teaching and learning materials.
- As experience develops, deliver pre-prepared set work to whole class groups and support their work in the event of teaching staff absence
- Administrational duties for the department.
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills, maintaining an approachable demeanour to aid a positive first impression and rapport building
- Customer focused mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional service
- Problem solving abilities in order to resolve issues independently or collaboratively with colleagues
- Previous experience in customer service, administrative support or a similar role would be beneficial but not necessary
- Computer literate **
- A level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or willing to work towards
- 3 years experience of working in sport, btec or equivalent in sport.
