About the role
The Elite Football Programme at City of Portsmouth College is continuing to grow, and we are seeking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring Women’s Head Football Coach to lead and develop our women’s football provision. This role will involve delivering high-quality coaching sessions, building a robust and successful women’s football programme, recruiting new players from local schools, and engaging with wider student cohorts to increase participation and progression opportunities within the women’s game. Training sessions are delivered offsite at Langstone Complex, Furze Lane.
Schedule (8 hours of football coaching sessions):
- Monday 1:00pm - 3:00pm
- Wednesday 1:00pm - 4:00pm
- Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, and deliver high-quality football coaching sessions to female players within the Elite Football Programme.
- Build, manage, and continually develop an effective and competitive women’s football programme.
- Organise and support with team selection, fixtures, training schedules, and match preparation.
- Recruit prospective female players, including active engagement with local schools (Year 10/11) and participation in outreach activities.
- Promote the women’s programme across the College to increase student engagement and participation.
- Provide pastoral, academic, and performance support to players as part of the wider curriculum and student experience.
- To teach or support delivery on associated academic or vocational areas where appropriate, providing high-quality learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual students.
To be successful in this role
- A minimum of three years’ experience coaching football, ideally within the women’s game.
- An understanding of the parameters, landscape, and specific challenges associated with women’s football.
- A UEFA B Licence is desirable but not essential; however, a strong coaching background and commitment to professional development is essential.
- Teaching Qualification or willingness to work towards one.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and professionalism.
- Ability to meet targets within set timescales.
- Strong organisational skills, communication skills, and IT literacy.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive coaching practice.
