About The Role: The Teaching Assistant for Social Science will work closely with the Social Science team. As a Teaching Assistant in Social Science, you will cover lessons as required. You will be given course plans and resources for any lessons that you are requested to cover. In addition to covering some lessons you will also be responsible for a wide range of administration tasks for the Social Sciences department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-prepared set work to whole class groups and support their work in the event of teaching staff absence.
- Carry out a range of administration tasks for the department, using college processes and systems.
- Deliver one to one and small group programmes to students who are in need of extra support or stretch and challenge, outside the classroom, as directed by the Curriculum Manager in conjunction with teaching staff.
- Communicate concerns and news of progress to teachers and Curriculum Manager, on a regular basis, including at team meetings.
- Support students with a range of barriers to learning to access the curriculum whilst encouraging the development of independent learning skills.
- Assist in the preparation/adaptation of teaching and learning materials.
- As experience develops, deliver pre-prepared set work to whole class groups and support their work in the event of teaching staff absence.
- Administrational duties for the department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A good standard of basic education (Maths and English GCSE pass or equivalent).
- 2 to 3 A Level passes or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- A level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or willing to work towards.
- Computer literate.
