Hours of work: 37 Hours per week, 52 Weeks per year, Full-Time, Fixed Term Maternity cover ending October 2026

About the role

The Apprenticeship Recruitment officer role will play a pivotal part in the journey for City of Portsmouth College apprentices. You will provide a professional service for both businesses and prospective apprentices, supporting the learner journey into an Apprenticeship through liaison with curriculum, managing applications, and supporting candidates from initial enquiry and application to apprenticeship start with the employer. You will also support those learners that continue with the college from one academic year to the next to ensure they are prepared and supported with their apprenticeship. This role has been brought about by the growth in apprenticeships the college is supporting year on year. The College currently has a Recruitment officer in post who will support the successful applicant as we continue growing our apprenticeship provision at City of Portsmouth College.

Key Responsibilities

  • Have experience and understanding of Apprenticeship provision, onboarding, support and rules and regulations
  • Experience of employer Engagement/ or lead generation.
  • Experience in working to targets and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisation skills including time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience of using a CRM system desirable
  • Experience of working with young people in further education an advantage
  • Advice and guidance qualification not essential but an advantage
  • Excellent IT skills
  • An understanding of the significance of equality of opportunity
  • An understanding of the importance and relevance of safeguarding within the educational environment
  • Ability to analyse data and produce reports in a format that is accessible and transferable.

To be successful in this role

  • Educated to at least Level 3. Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2/ GCSE grade A - C or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with employers, students, parents and carers, develop rapport and empathy and a solution-focused approach.
  • Good administration skills and the ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the local labour market with a focus on stakeholders' needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with computer programmes such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Work flexibly and across campuses and occasional evenings and early mornings supporting colleagues at events and fairs to promote the college.
