About the role
As a member of the MIS technical team, you will be responsible for the analysis, development, testing, documentation, implementation and maintenance of the MIS reporting and systems in use across the college. This will include estimating workload, resources, and timescales required to complete customer-led developments on time and in budget. You will be responsible for owning, tracking and resolving reporting and system related incidents and requests, providing a responsive, flexible and pro‑active service. You will need to work with staff from the IT Services to ensure effective communication is in place, standards are upheld, and documentation is maintained and shared.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the development of systems solutions for the college by analysing, developing, testing, documenting, implementing and maintaining high quality digital products.
- Estimate workload, resources, and timescales required to complete customer‑led developments.
- Engage and communicate with customers throughout the development of systems solutions.
- Be an expert contributor to the implementation and development of the data infrastructure to underpin systems solutions.
- Use in-depth understanding of college processes to inform development of reporting solutions which continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the college.
- Be recognised as the college’s technical expert in reporting and system solutions by maintaining and improving currency and skill levels in existing and innovative product toolsets.
- Develop and improve related organisational standards.
- Provide expert support to the college for MIS and ancillary systems.
- Own the MIS and ancillary systems upgrade procedures.
- Ensure data, reporting and system health is monitored and action taken in a timely and well‑communicated fashion to resolve any problems.
- Develop and promote working towards best practice.
- Empower relevant colleagues to handle routine tasks to improve data governance.
- Communicate in a professional and effective manner using plain language, which is understood by colleagues.
- Work to agreed project and development deadlines.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Assist in evolving new and improved processes to meet business requirements.
