About the role:

We are currently looking for an Electrical IQA (Internal Quality Assurer) to ensure high standards in electrical training. The IQA will lead the checks on assessor work, sample learner evidence, and ensure compliance with industry guidelines. You’ll need experience in electrical installation, an assessor qualification (like CAVA), and an IQA qualification (such as V1 or TAQA Level 4).

Key Responsibilities:

• To oversee the internal quality assurance of the Electrical Apprenticeship Standard
• To provide flexible assessment opportunities and closely plan, monitor, track and record student retention, achievement, and success.
• To teach the college programme to students daily and provide high quality learning opportunities to them.
• To contribute to the development and delivery of high quality, relevant curriculum, and programmes.
• Curriculum Development responsibilities include actively contributing to the development of new programmes and producing annual schemes of work.
• To facilitate Apprenticeship programmes IQA up to level 3.
• Monitor and train new assessing staff with clear focus on drive for continuous improvement
• Undertake regular standardisation meetings to ensure all team members are aware of standards required.
• As an IQA, to monitor CPD undertaken by staff.
• Engage in EQA visits.
• Liaising with the quality team.

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

• Assessor qualification: You’ll need something like the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or the older A1 or D32/D33 units.
• IQA qualification: The standard is the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (formerly V1).
• Electrical qualifications: A solid background in electrical installation is essential—usually a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Systems or equivalent, plus inspection and testing credentials like City & Guilds 2391 or EAL equivalents.
• Experience: You’ll need hands-on experience in the electrical industry and ideally some time spent as an assessor before stepping into the IQA role.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area.
• Ability to meet targets within set timescales
• Ability to work well in a team, but also to work independently
• Passion for the arts and for teaching
