Hours: Part Time, 17.5 hours per week (inclusive of teaching and prep time), 52 weeks per year, Permanent

About the role: As a Lecturer in English here at COPC, your role will encompass various responsibilities aimed at providing the very best of learning experiences to our students. Your role will entail designing and delivering lessons and assessing students' progress through assignments/exams. You will also play a key role in curriculum development, staying updated with the GCSE English Language curriculum and standards to ensure students receive relevant and up to date teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver English functional skills and GCSE qualifications to 16–19-year-old construction and vocational learners alongside their vocational studies at our Highbury and North Harbour campuses.
  • This role will include teaching students with high needs and SEN.
  • Providing constructive feedback and support to students to help them improve their skills and achieve learning outcomes.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum design, program development and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Represent COPC with the utmost professionalism with every interaction.
  • Handling of sensitive information with confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes diversity, equality and respect among all members of the college community.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Problem solving abilities in order to resolve issues independently or collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or a lengthy background within English (including GCSE).
  • The ability to manage behaviour and set high expectations for students.
  • English qualifications are a must.
  • Level 5 Certificate in Education or equivalent or be willing to work towards.
