About the role: We are currently looking for a Lecturer to teach Electrical Installation at the City of Portsmouth College at our North Harbour Campus. A Lecturer plays the largest part in a student's experience in education. As a Lecturer, you help your learners thrive and reach their aspirational careers and dreams! Are you ready to be part of a rewarding journey to make a difference? Ideally, we are looking for qualified electricians who are ready for a new challenge and interested in starting a new career whilst utilising their electrical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To teach on a range of programmes, providing high-quality learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual students/apprentices and groups in line with the College’s strategic priorities and objectives.
  • Demonstrating and teaching practical skills in our workshops.
  • Delivering theoretical lessons to support the practical applications.
  • To provide flexible assessment opportunities and closely plan, monitor, track and record student/apprentice retention, achievement, and success.
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality, relevant curriculum and programmes.

Curriculum Development responsibilities include:

  • Actively contributing to the development of new programmes within the curriculum area
  • Producing annual schemes of work and/or training plans for all subjects/programmes to be taught

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in related subject
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Experience of teaching/training and assessing students with learning difficulties and disabilities at Entry Level in relation to Independent Living and Work Skills
  • Hold a teaching qualification at L5 or be willing to work towards
  • Ability to meet targets within set timescales
  • Ability to work well in teams but also to work independently, with the minimum of supervision
