The Office of the Lord Mayor of London is looking for an experienced communicator to join its team of Senior Speechwriters, crafting high‑profile speeches and communications for the Lord/Lady Mayor and senior City figures.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce speeches and written communications for the Lord/Lady Mayor across a broad range of events and subjects.
  • Write scripts for industry roundtables and visits to key international markets.
  • Build strong relationships with the Principal and understand their priorities.
  • Oversee editing and writing of other communications, including articles for national newspapers.
  • Collaborate closely with the Mansion House Department and the wider City of London Corporation Communications team.
  • Provide feedback on speech performance and negotiate consensus on content.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to craft persuasive narratives.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, able to work with multiple teams.
  • Confidence in providing feedback and negotiating consensus in a diverse working environment.
  • Experience in high‑profile public speaking or communications is desirable.
