Department Overview: The NDEU is a CT grant‑funded unit that oversees development and training of Disruptive Effects across UK policing, supporting the Protect pillar of the UK CONTEST strategy under the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO). It works with UK forces and partners, including UK Border Force, coordinating and delivering BA training nationwide, developing courses for Project Servator and See, Check and Notify (SCaN), and assuring quality delivery. The department is embedded in the CT policing structure and is adaptive to emerging threats.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver Disruptive Effects (Project Servator and SCaN) products across the UK, ensuring alignment with counter‑terrorism threat.
- Represent City of London Police, the NDEU and UK policing, and support partners proactively and independently.
- Demonstrate creativity, continual improvement, and effective communication at all organisational levels.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Level 3 AET or equivalent training qualification or suitable experience.
- Experience as a Disruptive Effects Officer.
- Experience of community and partner engagement and communication.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to work proactively with minimum supervision in a pressurised environment.
- High flexibility to move between tasks and roles as business priorities dictate.
- Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical ability to assess and analyse information and provide accurate feedback.
- Awareness of Security‑Minded Communications.
- High IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams) and ability to learn new software quickly.
- Regular travel and ability to stay away from home domestically and occasionally internationally.
