Purpose of the Post:
Develop and deliver the City of London Police’s Protect, Prevent & Prepare fraud strategy by providing consistent nationally approved fraud prevention advice and guidance to the public. Locally support the services and messaging of police fraud prevention & protection programmes. Offer fraud prevention advice to victims of fraud to reduce the risk of repeat victimisation. Deliver fraud prevention training and advice to the local community to enable them to better secure themselves from economic crime.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and build partnerships with local business, industry, education, and third parties to promote the national fraud PROTECT message, with the purpose of increasing their resilience to fraud threats.
- Provide appropriate advice to victims of fraud.
- Develop and deliver a fraud protect programme of services to the public and business communities, raising their awareness around fraud.
- Promote national fraud prevention projects and campaigns developed by National Lead Force (NLF) and associated organisations.
- Work with local business to encourage fraud prevention by implementing measures which secure them against fraud threats.
- Deliver fraud prevention training to public, private, and voluntary organisations to empower them to protect themselves.
- Undertake general awareness activities which enable individuals to protect themselves and reduce repeat victimisation.
- Engage with online communities promoting fraud prevention.
- Contribute to enhancing the threat picture by reducing levels of underreporting and encouraging a two-way intelligence flow between businesses, forces, ROCUs and national bodies as well as the wider intelligence community.
Mandatory Duties

- Be operationally deployable to support the work of Specialist Operations and the wider fraud unit?
Selection Criteria
Essential
- A general knowledge of fraud methodologies.
- A general knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Fraud Act 2006, General Data Protection Regulation, and associated legislation.
- Experience of partnership working.
- Ability to produce high quality and professional presentations and documentation.
- Ability to present technical issues in an easily understandable manner to a range of audiences.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to adjust your communication style to meet the needs of the audience.
- Ability to understand detailed procedures, projects, and policies.
- Ability to organise and manage a diverse workload efficiently and accurately.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively on projects.
- Aptitude for learning complex subjects and willingness to engage in independent learning.
Desirable
- Understanding of the issues around commercial confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Experience of delivering advice in a professional capacity.
- Experience in delivering public events or meetings and maintaining professional relationships with a variety of stake holders and members of the public.
- Experience of presenting on digital platforms such Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
