About The Team

The City of London Police employ analytical professionals, researchers and intelligence officers to provide insight into crime patterns and support tactical, strategic and operational decision making. The team uses a range of analytical and mapping software to develop intelligence, identify trends and deliver high‑quality analytical products to police and key stakeholders.

About The Role

Specialist Operations is seeking a part‑time analyst working 14 hours (2 days) per week, with no scope for increased hours at present. The role requires knowledge of the National Intelligence Model and the ability to work with wide data sources to create analytical products that support intelligence‑led policing strategies and operational priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, evaluate and analyse data from various sources to identify offenders, victims, hotspot locations, crime patterns and trends, and crime series, supporting the prioritisation and direction of police resources at both tactical and strategic levels.
  • Produce analytical products at strategic, tactical and operational levels, selecting appropriate tools and techniques to interpret gaps, patterns and trends, assess threat, risk and harm, and make recommendations in line with the National Intelligence Model.
  • Maintain competence against relevant professional standards, achieving IPP accreditation and registration, and evidencing continued competence through CPD as required by the College’s Model.
  • Provide structured, detailed written and/or verbal briefings and presentations to police officers, support staff and external partners, ensuring a clear and evidence‑based understanding of the subject matter and driving law enforcement delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven analytical background from law enforcement or equivalent transferable experience.
  • Experience in collecting, evaluating and analysing data from diverse sources to identify offenders, victims, hotspot locations, crime patterns and series.
  • Strong ability to give structured written and verbal briefings and conduct presentations.
  • Excellent numeracy and research skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Selection Process

Applicants will be evaluated against the requirements above and assessed under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework. The closing date for applications is Sunday 7 June 2026 at 23:59 hrs.
