On behalf of the National Lead Force, the NCO is responsible for improving the national policing response to economic crime and fraud. Our vision is for every police force and regional collaboration in England and Wales to have an effective and appropriate response to countering economic crime and fraud. The NCO operate the network of CoLP funded officers in each of the nine ROCUs. These are the Fraud Regional Development Officers (RDOs). This post requires daily liaison and coordination activity with the RDOs. The NCO work with HMRCFRS to identify and disseminate best practice across economic crime policing – this encompasses 4P approaches from frontline response to SOC level.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Fulfilling the role of Fraud Regional Development Officer for CoLP (acting as force representative for economic crime improvement across SO, LP and NLF).
- Representing NLF/NCO in a range of regional and national level meetings and conferences at tactical and strategic levels.
- Providing advice to all 43 police forces to achieve best possible HMICFRS outcomes for fraud and economic crime.
- Providing administrative support to the NCO as required.
- Ownership of the Economic Crime Hub on the Knowledge Hub. Identifying best practice, uploading to the Hub, ensuring all information is up to date. Administration of memberships.
- Ownership of key projects (e.g. creating new national guidance for innovative fraud disruption methods).
- Act as liaison between the banking industry and UK policing in relation to complex case updates.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Willing and able to work unsupervised and to take responsibility and ownership for specific work streams and projects.
- Tactful, diplomatic, and able to engage effectively with stakeholders many of whom will be senior level in rank/grade/position.
- Self-motivated and organised, with excellent presentation skills and attention to detail.
- Experience and/or knowledge of operational policing as it relates to economic crime and fraud.
- The role holder will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of Policingʼs role in tackling economic crime and fraud including a strategic awareness of the wider context in which Policing is conducted in England and Wales.
- Willing to travel to outside of London at least once a month.
