About The Team
The City of London is a key business centre by day with a vibrant night‑time economy and growing hotel industry. Our analytical teams identify patterns and inconsistencies within crime data to support operational, tactical and strategic decision‑making. Analysts are trained researchers, analysts and intelligence development officers who use a range of analytical and mapping software to produce intelligence that supports policing strategy.
About The Role
Specialist Operations is seeking a part‑time analyst (14 hours or 2 days per week) with suitable analytical experience for a job share. The role involves using the National Intelligence Model to develop analytical products and support intelligence‑led policing strategies.
Key duties include:
- Identifying and presenting opportunities to prevent, deter, detect, disrupt and dismantle serious and organised crime groups, and providing evidence‑based recommendations at court when required.
Responsibilities
- Collect, evaluate and analyse data from various sources to identify offenders, victims, hotspot locations, crime patterns, trends and crime series.
- Use findings to prioritise and direct police resources at tactical and strategic levels.
- Produce analytical products at strategic, tactical and operational levels.
- Apply appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps, patterns and trends, assess threat, risk and harm, and make recommendations for decision‑making and resource allocation in line with the National Intelligence Model.
- Maintain competence against professional standards to achieve IPP accreditation and registration, including ongoing CPD evidence as required by the College’s Model.
- Give structured written and verbal briefings and presentations to police officers, support staff and external partners, ensuring a clear, evidence‑based understanding of the subject matter and driving law‑enforcement delivery.
Requirements
- Proven analytical background from law enforcement or a transferable analytical role.
- Experience in collecting, evaluating and analysing data from diverse sources to identify crime patterns and trends.
- Strong ability to deliver structured written and verbal briefings and presentations.
- Strong numeracy and research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
