Hybrid Working
This Police Staff role adheres to Corporation of London’s hybrid working policy, which requires a 60% office attendance rate. The specifics of this will be discussed locally with your hiring manager if you’re successful for the role.

About The Team
The Corporate Communications Department provides professional communications services to the four directorates of Local Policing, Specialist Operations, Corporate Services and in our National Lead Force role on fraud. You will join a professional team delivering media, campaigns, digital, stakeholder, brand and internal communications, and work to communicate the operational and organisational priorities set out in the City of London Policing Plan.

About The Role
You will be part of a small and dedicated internal communications team, helping to shape the internal communications strategy and delivering effective messaging to the 1,500 City of London Police Officers, Police Staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Work with another part time Internal Communications Manager, advising teams and individuals.
  • Lead on a particular portfolio and produce internal communications for different platforms.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Confidence to make decisions and informed judgments when giving internal communications advice.
  • A thorough understanding of the role of internal communications in developing a productive and engaged workforce.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and key partners.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence internal stakeholders and wider partners.

This vacancy is open only to those who have the right to work in the UK. Also, due to this role requiring MV/SC level vetting, you need to have continuously resided in the UK for the last 5 years. This residency needs to be in the immediate 5 years prior to this application. If you do not meet this requirement, you are not eligible to apply for the role, due to nature of the vetting checks needed.

Selection Process
As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge align with the points listed above in the ‘Requirements’ section. The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework. Applicants who fail to address the skills/knowledge/experience of the job description will not be considered. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 13th May 2026 @ 23:59hrs. Following shortlisting, successful candidates will be invited to attend a competency‑based interview, to be end of May / beginning of June 2026.
