Counter Corruption Unit (CCU) – 9 Month attachment
An opportunity exists for a motivated and professional individual to undertake an attachment within the Counter Corruption Unit (CCU), Professional Standards Directorate.
The CCU is responsible for identifying, assessing and mitigating corruption risks, developing intelligence, supporting investigations, and protecting the integrity of the organisation. Working alongside detectives, intelligence professionals and senior leaders, the successful applicant will play a key role in conducting corruption investigations, developing evidential opportunities, and supporting the identification and management of corruption threats, vulnerabilities and misconduct risks. This attachment offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to develop their investigative skills within a specialist area of policing while making a direct contribution to maintaining public confidence and organisational integrity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and conducting proactive and reactive corruption investigations, gathering and evaluating evidence, managing investigative actions, and progressing enquiries to support organisational decision-making and criminal or misconduct proceedings where appropriate. You will be expected to manage sensitive information, conduct research and intelligence development, prepare investigation updates and reports, and contribute to the effective resolution of corruption-related matters. The role requires the ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain the highest standards of discretion, professionalism and confidentiality.
Working closely with investigators, intelligence practitioners and supervisors across the Professional Standards Directorate, you will contribute to investigative strategies, evidence gathering plans, witness and subject enquiries, intelligence development activity, and the identification of organisational learning and risk management opportunities.

- Experience of conducting investigations and managing investigative enquiries.
- Strong research, information gathering and evidence evaluation skills.
- The ability to identify lines of enquiry, assess evidential opportunities and progress investigations effectively.
- Experience of preparing investigation reports, statements, case files or other evidential documentation.
- A good understanding of investigative standards, legislation and best practice.
- Knowledge of intelligence handling principles and the management of sensitive information.
- Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with witnesses, subjects and stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise and evidence-based reports.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
- A high degree of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive intelligence and personal information.
- An understanding of the importance of public trust and confidence in policing.
