About The Department
Specialist Operations is seeking a full-time Detective Sergeant to join Research and Analysis, part of Intelligence Services. This role operates core office hours Monday to Friday, and current or new flexible working patterns will be considered. Serious crime often involves the use of violence, results in substantial financial gain, or is conducted by several persons in pursuit of a common criminal purpose. Research and Analysis supports several areas of the National Crime Agency Serious Organised Crime requirements and serious crime assessment within the Square Mile.

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced supervisor who can provide leadership to a team of Intelligence Development Officers, deliver insight into proactive intelligence development and work collaboratively across Research and Analysis and the wider Intelligence Services function. You will be responsible for driving operational policing activity through intelligence-led policing and championing the principles of the Code of Ethics.
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Provide leadership and support to Intelligence Development Officers.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating operational risks.
- Proactively task Intelligence Development Officers with intelligence development activity.
- Provide tactical advice to operational teams to enhance investigations through intelligence development.
- Obtain and maintain Intelligence Professionalism Programme (IPP) accreditation at the required level.
- Support continuous improvement across Intelligence Services.
- Promote professional development and capability building for both themselves and their team.
Essential Criteria
- Experience of managing serious and complex investigations.
- Understanding of the benefits of evidential and non-evidential intelligence development techniques.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and any subsequent IPP certification requirements.
- Hold SC clearance or be willing to attain SC vetting.
