- Rank: Substantive PS (internals and externals) or Temp PS (internals only). The role is open only for Internal T/PS or Substantive PS.
- Regulations: An Officer Can Only Be Temporarily Promoted To The Ranks Of Sergeant If They Are Suitably Qualified. The Regulations Define Being Qualified As having passed the necessary examination and having commenced, or completed, the Work-based Assessment (WBA).
- Applications are invited from Constables qualified for promotion to the rank of Sergeant. This opportunity is open to all Constables that hold a valid OSPRE Part 1 and 2 pass and those that hold a valid OSPRE Part 1 or NPPF Pass.

About The Team
The Frontline Systems Support and Development Team (FSSD) sits within the Information Management Security service area in the Corporate Services Directorate. The Police Sergeant will work in tandem with an E grade staff member to supervise a team of Subject Matter Experts and systems that fall within The Frontline Systems Support and Development Team responsibility.

About The Role
We are now seeking a dedicated Sergeant to support in the leadership of the Front-Line systems and Development Team which supports our operational colleagues. This role will see the successful candidate leading a varied team of dedicated staff and officers who work collectively as subject matter experts. The successful candidate will play a key role within the City of London Police by working in tandem with an E grade staff member to supervise a team of Subject Matter Experts and systems that fall within The Frontline Systems Support and Development Team responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Working with both police officers and police staff in a multi front line system management environment.
- Ensuring KPI’s are met through the allocation, management and tracking of user service delivery reporting through the digital services portal.
- Supporting and managing system user experience and the management of troubleshooting enquiries and actions.
- Leading the forces Niche RMS system and Mobile solution Pronto subject matter experts.
- Leading the forces evidential capture Video systems and subject matter experts.
- Leading the PNC/D and to be formed new LEDS administration team.
- Leading the force systems trainer and system training output.
- Leading and managing technical business change projects under the supervision of the Head of FSSD and supporting in the determination of system development requirements in consultation with end users.
- Supporting and leading with innovation and change projects as the organisation requires.
- Working with third party partners and stakeholders to ensure our contractually supplied front line systems remain optimised, efficient and on point in delivering value for money.
- Working with Directorates and stakeholders to allow collaboration with the Front-Line Systems Support and Development Team to ensure system changes run efficiently.

Selection Process
As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role. The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework. Applicants who fail to address the skills/knowledge/experience of the job will not be considered. The closing date for applications is midnight on Monday 9th March 2026. Following shortlisting, it is anticipated that successful candidates will be invited to attend a competency-based interview, to be held week commencing 17th March 2026.
