Applications are invited from substantive Detective and Uniform Chief Superintendents or Detective and Uniform Superintendents on promotion to join the City of London Police as Chief Superintendent, Head of NPCC National Cyber Crime Team and national lead for Fraud and Cyber Protect.

Job Role/Purpose

  • Lead the NPCC National Cybercrime Team in delivering a comprehensive police cybercrime capability and response at the local, regional and national level.
  • Lead the development and delivery of an aligned police Fraud and Cyber Protect Network at the local, regional and national level.
  • Deliver the NPCC’s contribution to HM Government’s National Cyber Strategy, National Cyber Action Plan and Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
  • Coordinate the police service’s Fraud and Cyber Protect contribution to the National Policing Strategy for Fraud, Economic and Cyber Crime.
  • Work with local, regional, national and international partners to build capacity, capability and consistency for Cyber Pursue, Protect, Prepare and Prevent across the National Cybercrime Network to protect the public.
  • Manage critical senior strategic stakeholders in the Home Office, Cabinet Office, NCA, NCSC, GCHQ, NPCC and across the private sector.
  • Undertake other senior leadership duties as required by the force.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of the successful management of key senior stakeholder relationships across government, law enforcement and the intelligence agencies.
  • Recent experience of strategic responsibility for cybercrime capabilities.
  • Recent experience of strategic responsibility for Protect capabilities.
  • Proven ability to successfully bid for central government funding and deliver national policing projects.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of delivering national change programmes for policing.
  • Hold recognised academic or industry qualifications in cyber security or computer science.

The application and interview will be tested under Level 3 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

The Selection Process includes:

  • Operational Assessment: the preparation and delivery of a presentation will assess the candidates’ ability to deal with operational issues at Detective Chief Superintendent Level.
  • Strategic Assessment: a competency-based interview against the Competency Values Framework.
