An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Freemen’s School in Ashtead as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) from September 2026. You will work with the Head of Senior School and Wellbeing and the Head of the Junior School to provide targeted academic and emotional support, creating a safe, supportive, confidential space for pupils primarily in Years 3-11.
We welcome applications from candidates who are qualified and experienced ELSAs or who hold relevant professional experience or qualifications in child mental health, wellbeing, pastoral care, or SEND. Experience working with children and supporting their emotional and social development is essential.
This is a full-time, one-year fixed-term post for 35 hours a week, term time plus 3 days. There may be scope for this to be extended to a permanent position.

The emphasis in the Junior School is on Kindness, Honesty and Fun, while the Senior School promotes a pastoral programme that emphasises the importance of a strong, supportive community where every member feels respected, supported, and valued.
