Join us in shaping the future of adult education in the community! We are looking for various Sessional Tutors: Business Admin (Housing), GCSE Maths, ESOL and Teaching & Learning Assistant tutor to join our vibrant team at the City of London Corporation’s Adult Education Service. In this role, you will provide high-quality teaching and support to adult learners within the community setting. You will be responsible for the planning, delivery, assessment, and progression of learners, ensuring an engaging and personalised learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and dynamic lessons to adult learners.
  • Conduct learner assessments and progress reviews.
  • Ensure course materials and information are accurately uploaded and communicated through the Adult Skills and Education Service platforms.
  • Mark, evaluate, and provide feedback on learner work, including preparing learners for examinations (if required).
  • Liaise with colleagues to support learners in identifying progression opportunities and achieving their educational goals.
  • Participate in course and curriculum development, using innovative teaching methods including e-learning.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for adult education and possess the following qualifications and skills.

Professional Qualifications & Experience:

  • Teaching qualification (FE/Adult/Vocational or Community).
  • Relevant experience in adult teaching and support roles.
  • Expertise in their field.
  • Experience working with adult learners from various educational backgrounds.

Technical & Personal Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Proficiency in IT and use of digital learning platforms.
  • Ability to assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • A creative problem solver with a commitment to innovation in teaching.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What We Offer:

We offer a competitive senior tutor hourly rate and membership of the excellent Local Government Pension Scheme. Please specify on your application which teaching specialism you are interested in. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and, as part of the selection process, the successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced with adult’s barred list Disclosure & Barring Service check.
