The Built Environment is responsible for the delivery of a range of construction, highways and operational services for the City of London, including the construction of Street Scene Projects, the maintenance of the public highway and its associated infrastructure, the enforcement of various duties under the Highways Act, the management of street works, the management of both on and off street parking, and traffic management.
We currently have three Representations and Appeals Officer posts opportunity within the Parking Ticket Office, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The City of London is responsible for parking and traffic enforcement within the Square Mile. Parking enforcement supports the City’s aims for parking compliance, traffic management, health and safety and a cleaner environment.
The main purpose of the role is to carry out the processing of circa 110,000 Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) issued in the City each year, total income £8M. This involves ensuring that all correspondence, payments and unpaid debts are processed in accordance with the law, the City’s financial regulations, policies, and in a way that maintains the reputation of the City and in accordance with the principles of Comprehensive Performance Assessment.
The core duties of the post are to:
- Respond to basic challenges arising from PCNs and deal personally with letters and phone calls.
- Assess routine claims from motorists and hire companies who nominate other parties as being liable for a PCN.
- Deal with administrative tasks and meet individual and group targets as identified through the departmental appraisal system.
Candidates should have excellent communication and organisational skills and experience of working in a busy office, preferably with experience of dealing with difficult customers. Teamwork and interpersonal skills are essential requirements for this post. Proficient in Microsoft Office, you will be able to manage priorities effectively and have commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
