The City of London Corporation is the governing body for the Square Mile – the historic and commercial core of the Capital and a world‑leading financial centre. The environmental resilience team focuses on developing adaptation measures and strategies to address relevant climate change risks to the City and its services. These range from overheating, impact to food trade & infrastructure, flood risk, water stress, loss of biodiversity and emerging pests and diseases. The programme requires our team to think about climate change adaptation in several ways, and the links to health, social and economic impacts, degradation of nature and ecosystem services, and operational risks.

We are looking for an Environmental Resilience Officer who can bring a range of useful knowledge and skills to our team that will strengthen our approach to climate change adaptation and support the team in delivering the programmes. In particular we are seeking individuals who can project manage public realm projects, analyse data to monitor trends and drive research efforts, develop digital content and media to promote and share the impact and importance of this work. Can you support us by mapping and analysing data, or creating and developing innovative digital content, or do you have a specialism related to climate change impacts in urban environments? If so, we want you to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting programme and project management
  • Upskilling and educating teams and stakeholders
  • Delivering on the ground projects working with teams across the City’s Environment Department
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of climate issues through a relevant degree (or equivalent) and experience in a similar role.
  • Project management skills/experience supporting project management.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior managers, councillors and external stakeholders.
