We are seeking to recruit a proactive and strategic Community Safety Officer to play a crucial role in developing and implementing community safety strategies and initiatives across the City of London to join our Community Safety Team. The City enjoys a reputation as a safe place to live, work and visit; this is, in part, due to the hard work of the Safer City Partnership (the Community Safety Partnership for the City of London). By working closely with our partner agencies, businesses and residents we aim to create and maintain a safe environment for all.

As a Community Safety Officer, you will have strong knowledge of current crime and disorder issues and approaches to deliver effective responses to these. Being part of a small team, you will work across a number of areas so experience or understanding of issues including: Domestic Abuse, Prevent Channel Panel and anti-social behaviour will all be valuable. Your work will support the Community Safety Manager and the wider Partnership in the coordination of responses to a wide range of issues involved in helping keep the city safe. You will be organised with an outcome focused approach to ensure the most appropriate resources are utilised to tackle and reduce crime.

To be successful in this role you will need to analyse complex information, evaluate projects and present progress reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. In this role you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new policies and initiatives. You will represent the team at various partnership meetings - contributing to developing partnership solutions. If you are a confident negotiator with excellent problem solving skills and are passionate about helping reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime this could be the role for you. You will be IT literate with experience of preparing reports and action plans. Your administrative support will be determined by the projects and meetings. Confidentiality will be expected when sharing complex and sensitive information.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as part of the selection process the successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check with adult’s barred list. The City of London Corporation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
