Do you want to gain a nationally recognised qualification through on and off the job, trade-specific training?
The Housing Repairs Service (HRS) are looking for two craft apprentices to start in September 2026.
HRS carry out repairs to the Council’s housing stock of approximately 7,800 properties and is a fast and vibrant place to work and learn for any apprentice.
We are looking to recruit one electrical apprentice and one multi-skilled apprentice.
This advert is for the electrical apprentice.
You will be based at our works depot, Hamilton House, and will be assigned a mentor who will guide you through your apprenticeship.
Your mentor will teach you how to work with tenants, how to make effective repairs and guide you with your coursework.
Uniform and tools will be provided.
As part of your qualification, you will be required to attend residential learning centres regularly and actively engage with our training partner, PFP Thrive.
The successful candidate should be eager to learn and progress, whilst being able to provide an effective and quality repairs service to Council tenants.
The starting salary ranges from CDS-CA01 (£15,434.28) to CDS-CA03 (£24,521.22), which will be dependent on the starting age of the successful candidate.
Key responsibilities
- Work under the general direction of the Maintenance Team Leader and craft operatives to provide an effective and quality repairs service.
- Contribute to the objectives of the service area, directorate, and council.
- Undertake the service specific duties as outlined in the job description.
- Completion of all necessary coursework and satisfactory grading to achieve completion of qualification in core trade or multi-skill.

- Ability to use and maintain hand tools, portable power tools and equipment.
