Position Summary
The Waste Services Coordinator provides administrative support to Solid Waste Services such as data management, auditing services, regulatory compliance, contract administration and program coordination of Solid Waste Operations.
- Maintain databases used for information tracking and verifying all scale data associated with Solid Waste Disposal utilizing Contractor Scale weights
- Build and Maintain excel spreadsheets, provide operational status reports and conduct research
- Develop and implement promotion and educational materials related to recurring Solid Waste Programs, working with the Communications Department
- Oversee the information and scheduling of the Kingston Waste App
- Coordinate waste audits with external contractors for Quarterly waste audits
- Coordinate and conduct participation, targeted, promotional and other audits, with assistance from students/interns
- Respond to enquiries/complaints from the public
- Assist with development of operational plans, preparation of annual operating budget and develop operational procedures
- Coordinate administrative aspects and act as a city contact for the multi residential waste programs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Competencies
- 3 year diploma in Business, Marketing, Environmental or equivalent
- Two (2) years experience working in an administrative role
- Preference will be given to experience in the waste & recycling industry
- Must demonstrate corporate values of Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation
Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
- Experience with Microsoft Office, and database management; AI software
- Intermediate mathematic/accounting skills
- Familiar with Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA), legislation, regulations and guidelines associated with solid waste
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check
