Position Summary
- Responsible for the maintenance of phyto-remediation tree plantations at Belle Park
- Assist with storm water surveillance sampling
- Assist with monitoring well abandonment, spills response, soil, surface water and groundwater sampling
- Some physical labour required i.e. carrying equipment, walking for long durations along waterfront, and through wooded and swampy areas across the city (in all weather conditions)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Hours of operation are typically Monday – Friday: between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Qualifications, Competencies
- MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2026 – Verification will be required
- Must have completed two semesters of college or university in an Environmental or Engineering program of study
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 'G'
- Experience with landscaping equipment considered an asset
- Must demonstrate corporate values of Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation
Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions
- Able to perform the essential duties of the job such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking for long durations
- Must provide and wear green patch safety shoes during shifts when required
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential information
- Ability to follow instructions and perform assigned duties with limited direct supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check at candidate’s own expense
