Food Services Supervisor - Rideaucrest Home, Temporary Part-Time (up to 18 months)
Job Details
This temporary position covers part‑time hours for up to 18 months. Hours of work: 85 hours per month (2 days one week; 3 days the second week).
The Food Services Supervisor reports to the Administrator of Rideaucrest Home and is responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision and operations of the Food Services division.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all aspects of food service operations including inventory control, food storage, and the effective and efficient preparation and delivery of residents’ meals.
- Plan menus in consultation with the Nutrition Supervisor, considering input from residents and staff in compliance with provincial long‑term care legislation related to dietary standards.
- Provide direction, supervision, and performance management to Food Services staff; assist with recruitment, grievance administration, investigations and complaint resolution.
- Maintain safety standards, conduct accident/incident investigations, track for completion, develop training and communication, and complete risk assessments to understand risk points.
- Formulate and administer the preparation of the annual operating budget and maintain food and other departmental costs within budget.
- Consult with residents, families, and professionals regarding resident care needs and department activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in Food Service or a related field.
- 3–5 years of recent and relevant supervisory experience in food service or diet management (preferably in a unionized environment).
- Long‑term care experience preferred.
- Canadian Society of Nutrition Management membership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer‑service and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced computer skills including MS Office.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees to achieve success.
- Demonstrated conflict‑management skills and methods to reduce tension or conflict between two or more people.
- Ability to research, analyze, and formulate solutions to complex issues.
- Proficient knowledge of related policies, procedures, legislation, and initiatives.
- Proof of recent screening for tuberculosis (TB).
- Proof of immunity to communicable diseases.
- Must demonstrate corporate values of belonging, collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector.
