About the team
City of Gold Coast manages eight cemeteries across the City, and this role will be part of a team providing a vital and valued service to the community.
About the role
We are seeking a Leading Hand City Cemeteries to lead and support a small operational team delivering cemetery services across the City. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating daily activities, overseeing interment operations and memorial works, maintaining site presentation standards, and ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and with compassion. Working across multiple cemetery locations, you will play an important role in supporting staff, coordinating contractors, maintaining operational records, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience leading or supervising operational field-based teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and priorities.
- Experience working safely and promoting a positive safety culture.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage respectfully with bereaved families, visitors, contractors and colleagues.
- The ability to provide coaching, guidance and support to team members.
- Experience undertaking administrative tasks and maintaining accurate records using tablets, computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment across multiple locations.
