Bank Lecturer – Widening Access and Communities
Fixed Term, until June 2027
Hours as required
Salary: £43,402- £52,247 per annum pro rata (Candidate holding TQFE will commence at £50,036)
We are seeking passionate, flexible and committed Bank Lecturers to join our Widening Access and Communities team.
This rewarding role focuses on supporting learners who may face significant barriers to education, employment and progression. You will work with a diverse range of students, including:
- Young people disengaged from or at risk of disengaging from education
- Care-experienced young people
- People experiencing poverty, unemployment or social isolation
- Learners with mental health and wellbeing needs
- Individuals requiring additional support to build confidence, skills and aspirations
- Adults seeking to re-engage with learning and progress towards employment or further study
- Community-based learners from a wide range of backgrounds
The Role
You will deliver engaging, inclusive and learner-centred teaching across a range of programmes, both on campus and within community settings across Glasgow.
Subjects may include:
- Digital Skills and ICT
- Literacy and Communication
- Employability Skills
- Care Award
- Personal Development
- Mental Health and Wellbeing (SCQF Level 4)
- Volunteering and Community Engagement
- Event Planning and Delivery
- Wider Achievement and Progression Programmes (SCQF Levels 2-4)
- Industry experienced awards
As a member of the teaching team, you will:
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging learning experiences
- Support learners to develop confidence, resilience and independence
- Create safe, inclusive and trauma-informed learning environments
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Contribute to positive learner outcomes, including progression into further learning, volunteering and employment
- Work collaboratively with support staff, community partners and external agencies
About You
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in:
- Community Learning and Development (CLD)
- Community Art
- Employability Services
- Third Sector Organisations
- Social Care or Support Services
- Adult Learning
- Mental Health or Wellbeing Services
You must have:
- Significant recent experience within youth work, community learning and development, employability or related community-based services
You will also have:
- Experience of supporting individuals facing socioeconomic disadvantage and multiple barriers
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to motivate and inspire learners with diverse needs and aspirations
- A flexible and creative approach to engaging learners
- TQFE or equivalent teaching qualification
- Previous teaching or training experience
- Experience of working with learners who have experienced trauma, challenging circumstances or complex support needs
- Understanding of inclusive, strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches
- Experience of delivering learning in community settings
