Are you someone who enjoys working outdoors, being physically active, and making a real difference in your community? Join our Waste team and play a vital role in keeping Edinburgh clean, safe and sustainable. As a Waste and Recycling Collection Operative, you'll work as part of a dedicated team collecting household and commercial waste, supporting recycling initiatives, and delivering excellent customer service to residents across the city.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Collect household and recycling waste safely and efficiently.
• Operate bin-lifting equipment and assist with vehicle manoeuvring.
• Collect bulky waste and help remove fly-tipping where appropriate.
• Keep collection areas clean by clearing any spillages.
• Promote recycling and provide advice to residents on waste services.
• Report issues such as contaminated bins, access problems or damaged containers.
• Work closely with your crew to complete daily collection routes safely and on time.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for reliable, hardworking individuals who:

• Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Have a positive attitude and strong team-working skills.
• Are physically fit and capable of manual handling.
• Can provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with the public.
• Have an awareness of health and safety practices.
• Have experience in waste, recycling or environmental services (desirable but not essential).
• An SVQ Level 2 in Waste Management (or willingness to achieve this within 36 months) is desirable.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. Happy to talk flexible working.
