We aim to provide a seamless development consent process with close collaboration between professionals in different service areas.
You can be part of this exciting journey, helping to facilitate these opportunities whilst ensuring construction works within the city are designed and built to meet safety standards, further sustainable development and ensure the safety of people in and around buildings. As a member of our management team, you'll participate in a range of corporate functions and work with stakeholders, colleagues and the public.
You would be responsible for leading a team of surveyors and related professional staff involved in both the verification and non-verification processes. You will have the ability to lead, inspire and develop your team, fostering a supportive environment and structuring career progression pathways. You would be expected to deliver improvement projects for the service which help us maintain high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
Further, you will monitor personal and team workloads to ensure the department meets its performance and operating framework requirements. You will have excellent communication, IT and organisational skills and be committed to a high standard of customer care. With these requirements and responsibilities, comes a range of the most interesting Building Standards Surveying work in Scotland.
We are working in a hybrid way at this time which will encompass aspects of home, office and site working. Our modern open-plan offices are in Edinburgh City Centre, 5 minutes' walk from Waverley Station.
If you are interested, you should bring relevant experience, a strong sense of customer service, excellent communication skills, a clear understanding of quality assurance and an appetite for project delivery and continuous improvement. If successful, two references will be required.
We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued and able to be their best. We particularly encourage applications from women for senior roles, as well as people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities or neurodivergent people, care experienced people, carers and LGBT people across all levels of the organisation, all of whom are currently underrepresented. All applicants will be considered fairly based on skills and experience. Disabled and care-experienced applicants who meet the minimum job criteria will be guaranteed an interview.
As part of our goal to improve organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure we're recruiting the best people. We're interested not only in your skills and experience but also in your approach to work. Therefore, part of our interview process will be an assessment of how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. Happy to talk flexible working.
