A fixed term Team Leader position within our PrePare Team, providing cover for maternity leave. PrePare is an early intervention, integrated, multi-disciplinary team who work with pregnant women and their partners who have significant substance use.

The position will have direct management of:

  • 1 Advanced Practitioner
  • 2 Social Workers
  • 2 Family Practitioners
  • 1 Children's Services Practitioner

There is also oversight of 5 NHS professionals ranging from CPNs, Midwife and Health Visitor. The multi-agency team aims to reduce substance use and related harm to mother and child by providing health care, social care, assessment and support throughout pregnancy and where necessary up to 2 years post birth.

PrePare works with both parents in a restorative manner, to support early childhood development and increase positive early parenting experiences. We do this by focusing on strengths and building resilience and keeping the child at the centre of our support. The co-location aspect of PrePare produces a cohesive, multidisciplinary team around families where risks are at their highest for both mothers and babies.

The Person

  • Will have a Social Work qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and be registered with the SSSC.
  • Will have significant experience with a Children and Families Social Work setting and be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of working with unborn babies, and mothers affected by substance use.
  • Will be skilled at assessing and managing complexity and child protection risk.
  • Will be able to demonstrate the capability to lead a team and provide high quality supervision to staff.
  • Will be able to evidence a strong background in multi-agency working.
  • Will have an understanding and experience of specific vulnerabilities and risks relating to both pregnancy and the early period of an infant's life.
  • Will have an understanding of the need for quality assurance and the ability to carry out continued evaluation of the service.
  • There will also be a need for some 'test of change' regarding case responsibility within our service delivery, and the role will involve leading on this, including both quantitative and qualitative data capture to measure the impact of this change.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. Happy to talk flexible working.
