James Gillespie's High School is seeking to recruit a Teacher of Psychology for a fixed term post until 31 January 2027. The salary range is £33,594 - £50,589 for 35 hours per week.

At James Gillespie's High School, we strive to create a nurturing environment where everyone feels welcome and part of a larger family. We value high expectations, respect, inclusion, integrity, and kindness. With almost 1800 pupils, we are one of the largest secondary schools in Edinburgh.

The school comprises a main teaching block (Malala Building), a state-of-the-art sports complex (Eric Liddell Sports Building), and an impressive music and drama suite (Muriel Spark Building), along with further teaching accommodation in our grade 1 listed building, Brunstfield House. Staff will regularly travel between the two sites.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and have demonstrated contributions to department and whole school activities in previous posts.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required for individuals who have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years.

An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
