This post is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Modern Studies teacher to join our welcoming and collaborative Social Subjects Faculty. The faculty aims to develop an enthusiasm for learning by providing pupils with challenging and creative opportunities.

This post is full time and permanent, and the timetable includes S1 Social Subjects, S2 and S3 Modern Studies, N4/5 Modern Studies, N5 and Higher Sociology. The curriculum rationale is to meet the needs of every young person so that when leaving school, each young person has a portfolio of skills, experiences and qualifications.

This post would suit an innovative and enthusiastic teacher interested in working with young people in the classroom and beyond. Digital literacy is a key element of learning and teaching at Leith Academy, and the successful applicant ought to have an interest in embedding this further by providing a range of digital methodologies in the classroom.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
