We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team, to contribute to the continuing development and delivery of high-quality education at the school. The candidate must be able to evidence their experience of working with Primary-aged pupils with identified Additional Support for Learning needs. The role is likely to include planning and implementation of tailored supports to individuals or small groups of pupils. For example: fine and gross motor skills, nurture, social and communication skills, as well as supporting learning in and out of class.
Previous completion of LIAM training (Let's Introduce Anxiety Management) is beneficial, although training in this could be provided to a successful candidate. The role will also involve work to support improvements in school attendance.
The working hours are 8.15am - 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (less unpaid breaks) with a planned start date of Monday 10th August 2026.
Star of the Sea is a denominational primary school built in 1920, which serves the Leith area of North-East Edinburgh. The catchment area comprises of a combination of private, housing association and council housing to ensure a good social mix amongst the pupils. For session 2026-27, we will have 12 classes with a school roll of approximately 310 and a nursery class of 28 children.

Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
