School Support Assistant – Welfare and office support. Tynecastle High School. Salary: £26,806 - £27,032 (pro‑rate for part‑time and sessional). Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional. Working pattern: Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a conscientious, committed candidate who will work within both our Welfare Area and provide an element of support to the school office.

Responsibilities:
  • Primary point of contact for pupils who are unwell and require support, and staffing the school welfare desk.
  • Organise the school’s medical supplies and ensure the welfare room is fully equipped and maintained.
  • Administer the physical PPRs (personal pupil records) and handle the transition of new files from feeder primary schools, as well as archiving old files.
  • Administer pupil medical plans, details of specific pupil medical requirements and medication.
  • Manage the school’s lost property and pupil lockers.
  • Provide support to the office team as required.

The successful candidate will be required to become a trained First Aider; this will be arranged upon joining the school.

Legal and Safety Requirements:

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an overseas criminal record check will be required and must be provided. Employment will be subject to satisfactory completion of these checks.
