In pursuit of getting it right for every child we are delighted to able to offer Enhanced Support Provisions (ESP) for those young people who require alternative approaches to learning. One of the key outcomes of the Enhanced Support Provision is to support young people who have barriers to learning that go beyond a level of universal support. In most cases pupils who access support through the ESP attend school full time but there are some cases where attending school is the primary barrier to success.
The PSO post is designed to support both in school and in community support for some of our most vulnerable pupils, with a particular focus on wellbeing and improving outcomes for these learners.
We are looking to appoint a permanent PSO to join a very motivated and able Enhanced Support Provision team. Primary school, support for learning or special school and/or youth work experience is preferable due to the complexity of some of these pupils' barriers to learning.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
